Ben took his father over to a table that was free. Hawkeye sat on one side while Ben sat on the other. Then Ben gave his food one more sniff and made a face as he began to speak to his father. "We don't have to send a telegram to the Pentagon," Ben said. "We will just send this suff to the enemy," he said. "They are sure to give up then," he finished as he started to laugh. Then Ben grabbed the salt and began to put it all over his food as he continued speaking to his father, though he couldn't help laugh at his father's jokes about Frank. 

"In all seriousness, Dad, Frank does make a good surgeon," he told Hawkeye as he put the salt down and picked up his fork. Then, as nasty as the food was, Ben began to eat it. Once his mouth was empty, he continued his thoughts. "But you are right, Frank needs to just relax a bit," he told his dad. "But you are right dad, I am better quilified to do the job," he said as he moved some food around before taking another bite as he chuckled once again at his father's joke. 

"I think, betwee you and I, we could save twice as many lives as we have already," Ben told his father when he was able to speak again. "I mean you are the best doctor that caem from Crabbapple Cove, Main," Ben said with a smile. And everything I learned, I learned from you and medical school," he said as he reached over and took a drink of his coffee and then made a face. "That is is so aweful that I could use it to write a letter instead of using regular ink," he sadand then laughed. 

Then Ben got real serious as he put down his fork. He didn't know how his father was going to take the next part, but he knew he needed to be the one to tell him before anyone else did. Ben let out sigh and continued to speak to his father again. "There is something I need to tell you and I don't know how you are going to take it," he said softly. 

"They aren't too bad to work with," Ben said with a smile as they cook was finishing up loading both trays. "But they still have a lot of growing up to do plus a lot of learning before they can reach the level we are at," Ben said as he looked at his tray of food with a weird look. Then he brought it up to his face and gave it a  good sniff before looking at his father. 

Then Ben went onto reply to his father's comments about the food as he walked over and grabbed him a coffee cup. Then he placed one on his father's tray as he spoke. "I don't exactly know what this is, but put a little salt and ketchup on it and it should be fine," Ben said jokeningly as he was getting him a cup of coffee. 

Then Ben went back to what Hawkeye said about him being Chief Surgeon. "Eh....it was more like Major Burns had his panties in a bunch and they needed to point someone so they choose me," he told his father as he waited for Hawkeye to get his coffee. "I only agreed to take the job because it pisses Frank off," he added. 

"Good, maybe we can do some surgeries together," Ben said. "It will be just like old times when I was doing my intership with you," he added as he looked around to find a place to sit. "There's another reason why I'm glad you are staying, and don't worry we have plenty of homemade gin to go around," he told his father. 

"There is someone special I want you to meet," he said as Ben finally found a spot to sit for the two of them after Hawkeye got his coffee. "How about over there in the corner?" he asked his father. 

"It's good to see you too dad," Ben said with a smile on his face. "And if you are wondering about the young guns around here, don't be," Ben said as they were walking to the mess tent to get a bit of food, however, disgusting it might be. As they were walking, Ben began to speak again. "Besides, they appointed me Chief of Surgery, so you know things are getting down around here," he added as he was half-joking and half serious. 

As they made it to the mess tent and was now inside in line, they began to play catch up with each other. Ben grabbed a tray and handed it to this father along with a fork, spoon and a knife. Then he grabbed his own stuff as they were moving slowing in line. "So dad," Ben said. "How long are you gonna be able to stay with us here at the 4077th?" Ben asked as he held out his tray for the cook to start dishing up his food. 

Benjamin had just finished up his last surgery and decided he needed a shower, even though most of the time he would still be in his scrubs and just go back to the SWAMP and sleep until the next shift or dinner, whichever came first. But today was a very special day, Ben's father was being transferred in and Ben was excited. So, Ben went and took a shower to wake himself up and then got into his cleanest clothes, which wasn't much and then sat outside and waited for his father to show up.
