Finally, the wounded solider who was laying on the operating table with his chest open, became stable and the blood was contained, Hawkeye and Trapper Sr continued to work in silence. Once they had all the shrapnel removed and the shrapnel damage fixed, they began the process of closing him up. The whole operation took about five and half hours, minus the hour it took to stop the major bleed that happened. Hawkeye and Trapper Sr finally had the patient closed and ready to go to post-op for rest and recovery before shipping him to the hospital in Tokyo for better care. While the patient was slowly being moved, Hawkeye and Trapper Sr. went into the changing room to get out of their bloody scrubs and masks and get back into their army greens. Neither one of them spoke as they were changing, though Hawkeye looked as though he had something to say. Finally, after a while of not talking, Hawkeye broke the silence and began to speak and say what was on his mind.

"I was going to talk to you in there about something important," he started off. "But it got a little crazy in there and I never got a chance to talk to you," he added and then went silent for a few minutes. It was as if Hawkeye was trying to figure out how he wanted to put his thoughts into words. Hawkeye let out a sigh and then continued his thoughts, though he really wasn't sure if he was saying this right, but he needed to get what he had to say off his chest before he did what he was planning. "Anyway, I'm going to be going to Tokyo for a few days for some RR and while I'm there I was planning on getting a ring for Trapper Jr," Hawkeye said as he looked to the floor and then back up at Trapper Sr. Hawkeye took a deep breath and the let it out as he finished up his thought, hoping that Trapper Sr. would agree to what he wanted. "And I was hoping to get your blessing to ask for your son's hand in marriage," he finished up and then waited for Trapper Sr. to respond.

Kellye watched Trapper walking away and yet she could still feel him as if he was standing right beside her. Kellye couldn't help but let out a sigh as she started to do her nursing duty as well as the things that Trapper asked her to do. But her mind wasn't on her work but more on the way that Trapper had left her feeling after he left and everything, he had told her. She could still feel the goosebumps he had left on her body and to be honest, she was enjoying every minute that they lingered on her body. It was as if she was lost in a world that only Trapper could take her to. Finally, Kellye brought herself back into the real world as she made sure that the rest of the patients were doing okay before she moved onto Johnson. Once she was satisfied with the way the other patients were progressing, she then moved onto Johnson, who started out doing well, but then Kellye noticed a drop in his numbers.

One of the other nurses asked if she should go get Trapper, and Kellye said to wait. She told the nurse that she would sit with Johnson for a little while to see if his numbers would come up. The other nurse nodded and went on doing her work as Kellye sat down next to Johnson. And for a little while, her mind was on pulling Johnson through instead of the way Trapper made her feel. So, Kellye took Johnson's hand and held it in hers as she gently began to brush his hair back. And for a while, Johnson began to stable out, which Kellye let out a sigh of relief. But it was a few hours later when the real trouble began. Kellye was getting ready to get up and go to her tent to get herself ready for date with Trapper, when Johnson's number drastically dropped into danger territory, which Kellye knew it was time to get Trapper.

So, Kellye told one of the nurses to sit with Johnson and she would go get Trapper. That was when Johnson started to seizure, which she and the other nurse got him on his side until the seizure passed. Once the seizure passed, Kellye knew she had very little time to spare, so, she left postop and ran as fast as she could to the SWAMP. Once she got to the Trapper's tent, she walked in and in between catching her breathe, she began to speak again. "D...D...Doctor," she said breathless. "It's...Johnson....all his numbers dropped drastically and now he's starting to have seizures," she told him once she was able to speak normally. This time she was looking deep into his eyes with both fear and panic in hers. But that wasn't all that was in Kellye's eyes. There was also this look in her eyes that told Trapper that Johnson wasn't going to make it.

Hawkeye could see the look on Trapper Sr's Face. He knew he wasn't mad or even offended but lost in other thoughts. After several minutes of waiting for Trapper Sr to say something, Hawkeye couldn't help but get a little nervous. It was killing him not knowing how Trapper Sr felt and the longer he didn't speak, the more nervous Hawkeye became. It wasn't until Hawkeye started feeling sick to his stomach that Trapper Sr began to speak and what he had to say not only eased up all those nervous feelings that Hawkeye had, but it also surprised him as well. And it wasn't a bad surprise, but rather a good surprise that put a smile on his face. As they walked over to the scrub station and began to change into their surgical scrubs, Trapper Sr speaking about his expectations of his son, Hawkeye played close attention. Then, when it was finally Hawkeye's turn to speak, Hawkeye spoke straight from the heart.

"Well sir," Hawkeye started as he finished getting into his surgical scrubs and was putting on his hat and tying on his mask around his neck as he went on speaking. "I do all of those things for him, and he does them for me," Hawkeye started to say after getting his masked tied around his neck and watching Trapper Sr finishing himself before the moved onto the scrub sink. "But what really made me fall for him was the fact that when I lost this 5-year-old little Korean boy a year ago," Hawkeye explained. "He was there no questions asked and he let me just lose it and he loved me through it," he added. "His love and his compassioned reached a part of me that was just ready to give up and give into those dark thoughts that doctor's sometimes gets," he told Trapper Sr. "So, believe me when I say that I will never hurt or break his heart," Hawkeye said as he turned on the hot water and grabbed his bar of soap and began to scrub his hands and arms.

Hawkeye smiled and as they were scrubbing and when they were done and ready to go, Trapper Sr went through the door first, followed by a very happy Hawkeye. The nurse came over and said that the patient was stable and already had 3 units of blood. Hawkeye nodded then to stand on one side of the patient as his future father in-law went to stand on the other side, along with the nurse and instrument tray. Soon, both Hawkeye and Trapper Sr were hands deep in the soldier's chest, with Hawkeye every now and then checking the monitors to make sure that the soldier was doing okay, which he was so far. That was until Hawkeye ran into a major problem and soon blood started gushing everywhere. "Where the hell is all this blook coming from?" he asked anybody who would give him some sort of answer.

Hawkeye couldn't help but smile as he felt Trapper's hand on his shoulder. Finally, Hawkeye walked out of Trapper's tent and as they was walking together to the O.R building, Hawkeye began to speak to open and honestly. As they walked in silence for a few minutes, Hawkeye was forming the thoughts he wanted to say to his hopeful future father in-law. 

"Oh and what I want I wanted to talk to you about isn't about my father, though he can be a handful at times," Hawkeye said with a chuckle as they got half way across the compound. "What I wanted to talk to you about was my relationship with your son," he told Trapper. "And I waneed to let you know that it's getting real serious," he added, unsure if Trapper knew about his son being gay. 

As they reached the OR building and Hawkeye opened the door for Trapper, he went on speaking. "In fact, it's getting so serious that I was hoping to get your blessing to ask your son to marry me," he added as he followed Trapper inside the building just as the helicopter was landing with their patient. 

Kellye couldn't help but smile as she listened to everything that Trapper had to say to her. It was like a weight was lifted off her shoulders and heart when he said would would love nothing more than to have a drink with her in her tent at midnight. But it wasn't until she felt him touching her elbow that not only made her heart skip even more beats.

And even though they were fully clothed, she still could feel goosebumps from his touch arising all over her. Finally, when John was done talking and it was her turn, nothing would come out the moment. Finally, after inhaling and exhaling, she managed to speak to him. "I'll keep all that in mind," she said still feeling the blush on her face as she talked to John low and softly. Then she went on speaking to John. 

"Anyway, I'll check on Johnson one more time and make sure his numbers are still good," she told him. "Then I'll go get my tent and myself ready," she told him. "As long as you don't need me for anything else," she added, hoping like hell that he wouldn't, so she could get a shower and something to eat before she meets him in her tent for a nightcap and maybe something more if all things go as she was hopping it would.
